Doctor of Philosophy in Information Technology

The program consists mandatory modules and a PhD Dissertation, totaling 300 UK credits, lasting a minimum of 3 years and a maximum of 5 years. In addition to completing the PhD Dissertation, doctoral candidates receive guidance in publishing international papers in journal systems affiliated with ISI/SCOPUS.

• Course: Advanced Research Design and Methodologies (60 UK credits)

Doctor’s Dissertation Stage (120 UK credits):

• Activity: Working with Research Supervisor for Dissertation
• Activity: Present the research result in Colloquium
• Activity: Defend the Dissertation

International Paper Submission Stage (60 UK credits):

• Course: How to Publish the Academic Paper
• Activity: Publish your research paper

Teaching and learning strategies:

The central training philosophy of the program starts from understanding the theory and case studies that are currently applied in world enterprises to the process of applying the learned knowledge to the enterprises themselves and the learners’ business environment. In addition to the practical knowledge, the program also equips the necessary skills for a business leader and manager in the volatile and risky global business context.

The program is Learner-centered and focuses on solving learners’ problems:

The Learner-centered training method will focus on solving learners’ problems through background knowledge and case studies that are applied in successful businesses worldwide. Through each module, learners will step by step solve management problems that they face every day with the guidance of the theoretical system, the practice system, expert lecturers and local teaching assistants.

Graduating from the program, the learner could:

• Ability to conduct independent, comprehensive research in information technology, including problem identification, hypothesis formulation, and research design.
• Deep understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of IT, including specialized knowledge in areas such as cybersecurity, data analytics, and software development.
• Capability to develop innovative solutions to complex IT challenges, demonstrating creativity and critical thinking in the application of technology.
• Proficiency in communicating complex IT concepts and research findings clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

In addition to the entry requirements, candidates applying to the program are also assessed for their suitability by the admissions committee before joining the program to ensure that they can acquire and benefit from the program.

Entry requirements:

To enroll the program, the learner must possess one of the criteria below:

• Learners must be over 24 years old;
  A Master’s qualification in Majors from accredited universities; or
• A Level 7 EQF diploma or equivalent. Level 7 Diploma must be from organizations that are authorized to issue qualifications and have been accredited.

English requirements:

If a learner is not from a predominantly English-speaking country, proof of English language proficiency must be provided.

• Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) level B2 or equivalent
• Or A minimum TOEFL score of 101 or IELTS 6.5; Reading and Writing must be at 6.5 or equivalent

Certifications & Apostilles in Switzerland:

Certifications & Apostilles is the process by which The Cantonal Chancellery certifies original public documents of the Canton of Zug (where SIMI Swiss is authorized and licensed), thus validating them for use abroad. The process solely verifies the authenticity of the diploma, confirming its origin from the Swiss Institute of Management and Innovation, and ensures the genuine signature of the chancellor/dean.
